About the Short

In 1959 , the talented Betty Willis gave life to the iconic sign of " The Welcome to Las Vegas Sign " as a royalty-free gift to the city.

In the vibrant decade of 1960 , inspired by the Googie movement, this iconic sign became a reflection of the city's spirit with its geometric design and dazzling neon lights.

The Welcome to Las Vegas it consists of a white diamond surrounded by bright yellow bulbs, "Welcome" lettering in white neon circles, and red neon outlined letters of the same color. In addition, a red eight-pointed metal star with yellow neon crowns this unique symbol. The white circles in the design have a special meaning, symbolizing silver dollars and connecting with Nevada's nickname, "the Silver State."

Standing at an impressive 7.6 metres tall, it stands on two flat blue poles, while at its rear, a sign reads "Drive carefully, see you soon", offering a warm welcome and affectionate farewell to visitors.

Over the decades , this sign has traveled along the famous Las Vegas Strip, adapting to the growth of the city and remaining an indelible emblem.
